Sinharaja Rainforest

Sinharaja rainforest is the largest rainforest in Sri Lanka about 9000 hectares in extent. This has been designated as one of the world heritage sites by UNESCO. Many rare animals, birds, butterflies, insects can be seen in this forest. The forest has beautiful waterfalls, hills and rocks.

Yala National Park

Famously knows for leopards. Second largest national park in Sri Lanka covers 979 sq kilometres. A stunning place to see Elephants, Sloth Bear, Spotted Deer, Jackal, Wild Boar, Wild Buffaloes etc and 130 species of bird’s. Surrounding areas has hosted several ancient civilizations.

Udawalawe National Park

Udawalawe National Park lies in Sri Lanka’s dry and wet zone. This area is habitat for water birds and especially elephants. Many elephants are attracted by Udawalawe reservoir.  This is also a nice bird watching the site for, Spurfowl, Red Faced Malkoha, Hornbill, Brown Capped Baddler and Sri Lanka Jungle Fowl. Some migrant’s birds also can be seen here example White Wagtail and Black Capped Kingfisher and many water birds such as Cormorants, Pelican, Painted Stork and Eurasian Spoonbill.

Minneriya Sanctuary

Minneriya National Park in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. The park has special features of Minneriya tank. The tank was built in 3rd Century AD by King Mahesen. Large numbers of elephants are attracted to the reservoir during dry seasons.

Gal Oya National Park

Gal Oya National Park lies in the southeast of Sri Lanka. The Park is rich in Flora and Fauna. The 25,900-hectare park has about 32 species of mammal’s common Languor, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Elephants, Wild boar, Water Buffalo and Deer. An exciting place for bird lovers with boat safari.

Bundala National Park

An important ground for migratory water birds. About 100 species of water birds inhabit here at Bundala national Park. Greater Flamingo, Whistling Duck, Garganey, Little Cormorant, Indian Cormorant, Grey Heron, Black –Headed Ibis and so many other rare species.

Wasgamuwa National Park 

This is a natural park situated in the Matale. Elephants can be seen in large herds. More than 150 flora species 143 bird species and 23 species of mammals are having recorded from the park. Sri Lanka’s Peafowl is another bird inhabits at the park.

Wilpattu National Park

Located at the northwest coast dry zone of Sri Lanka covering 425 sq miles and re-opened in 2010. The main features of the park are villu and lakes purely from rain water. 31 species of mammals are found at Wilpattu Elephants, Sloth bear, Leopard and Water Buffalo and birds like Garganey, Pin Tail, Spoonbill, and Large White Egret are also found here.

Horton Plains National Park

Lies at the Central Province of Sri Lanka covered by grassland and cloud forest. Horton Plains are the headwaters of 3 major rivers in Sri Lanka  Mahaweli, Kelani And Walawe river. Large herbs of Sri Lankan  Sambar Deer can be commonly seen here. One of the most popular destinations.
